The Falcons withstood a push by Smith Academy in the second half and went on to a 66-50 victory on Saturday to win the Division 3 state crown.

After pouncing out to a big lead early, Danvers High School withstood a push by Smith Academy on Saturday and pulled away to win a second straight Division 3 state championship.

The Falcons opened up a double digit first half lead before Smith sliced its deficit to one point in the first minute of the third quarter. But Danvers’ veteran experience paid off and the locals pushed their lead back into double digits and went on to a 66-50 win.

Nick McKenna led the Falcon charge with 20 points, followed by Eric Martin with 11 markers on the game.
