Girl Scouts Collecting Food for Pantry

Today is Tuesday, July 23. Here are five things to know today in Danvers.

  1. If you're planning to attend the annual summer concert series, bring some non-perishable food with you to donate to your local food pantry. Girl Scout Troop 63181 is collecting food this summer at the concert series for the Danvers People to People Food Pantry. The concerts are Mondays and Wednesdays at the Rotary Pavilion from 6-8 p.m. You can find more details here.
  2. The Planning Board meets Tuesday night (7 p.m.) in the Toomey Room at Town Hall. Board members are scheduled to discuss options for zoning medical marijuana treatment centers in light of the town moratorium and Wadsworth Farm Lane LLC is seeking a reduction of its performance bond for completing site improvements at the housing development on Saratoga Lane. You can find the agenda online here.
  3. North Shore Community College is holding a special open house Thursday (5 p.m.) for people interested in jumping into the healthcare, financial services or advanced manufacturing fields. NSCC runs a short-term certificate program called College2Career.
  4. The Clara & Harvey Pillsbury Foundation, Inc. is looking to aid a local nonprofit that serves the senior citizens of Danvers. The foundation is a nonprofit agency that was formed in 2008 after the sale of the Pillsbury House at 18 Park St., which was a boarding house for many years serving the elderly in Danvers.   5. Sonic Drive-in "dollar dog dares you" today to enjoy a 6-inch All-American or Chili Dog for $1 at the Route 1 eatery. The special runs all day to join the contest, which could land you a $100 Sonic gift card. To enter, Instagram a photo of yourself eating your special today at the restaurant with #DollarDogDare and tag it @sonicdrivein.
