Construction Moves Along for Holten Street Development

The property owner is planning to construct a new building with a cafe on the bottom floor and six apartments over two floors above.

Construction is moving along at 78 Holten St., which is the site of a former Methodist Church that was demolished this spring to make way for a new mixed-use development.

The former church building dated back to 1870, but was deemed structurally unsafe and too costly to rehabilitate. The foundation for the new building was installed last week and crews continued to perform site work.

The property owner, Peter Pantazelos of Danvers, is planning to construct a new building with a cafe on the bottom floor and six apartments over two floors above. The new structure will look very similar, however, to the old church.
